Solar water heating

Low pressure series

These are passive systems since they do not use a pump to increase circulation pressure. Water flows through the system when warm water rises as cooler water sinks. The collector must be installed below the
storage tank so that warm water will rise into the
tank.

They work best in areas where temperatures rarely fall below freezing, and are to be used in applications where water consumption is not very high such as domestic units. Often these systems are installed with an electrical back-up element. Low pressure systems are the most economical. The price is reasonable for the benefits you get, such as free hot water for over 20 years. The payback period is very short, in some cases less than a year.

High pressure series

This is the most efficient of all the series. Pumps circulate water or a non-freezing, heat-transfer fluid through the collectors and a heat exchanger. This heats the water that then flows into the home. They are popular in climates prone to freezing temperatures.

Hot water flow rate depends on the cold water pressure, the higher the pressure of tap water, the stronger the flow rate of hot water. These work in all applications where water consumption is low to high. Often these systems are installed with an electrical back-up element.

In terms of price High Pressure systems are the most expensive. However the benefits you get are as free hot water for over 20 years. This system is also the most reliable in terms of continuous hot water availability

Pre-heated High pressure series

These systems use copper coil as a heat exchanger and work in all applications where water consumption is low to high. Often these systems are installed with an electrical back-up element.

In terms of price Pre-heated pressure systems are like a hybrid between low pressure and high pressure systems. The price is reasonable for the benefits you get, such as free hot water for over 20 years. The payback period is very short, many cases less than 2 years.
